Hey folks!
3 Au Pairs, 2 hostkids, 1 family.
Maria and her brother Lukas arrived in the night from Tuesday to Wednesday after a super long day of 4 different flights 😮 but the funny thing is that they had no jetlag because they stayed awake all the time 😀 Anyway. Their luggage didn´t arrive with them, so we picked it up the next day at the airport and spent time with TJ and Nate in the pool J We ate good Mexican food for lunch and for dinner, the two trolls (Maria and Lukas are from Austria 😀 ) and I chilled at the farmer´s market and enjoyed laughing at Maria for not being able to eat with chopsticks 😀 We tried to teach her but she just gave it up 😀
On Thursday I showed them Sacramento. TJ, the trolls and I saw the city from the top, from Jeff´s office, went to the farmer´s market there and then visited the capitol building. Later we walked through Old Sacramento and I showed them the new Kings stadium J In the evening Jeff made his famous steak J and we jumped in the pool, just because we could 😀 It was funny because I just took of the clothes that were over my bikini and jumped in and everyone followed me 😀 It was great!
We actually wanted to see Samantha´s farm and the almond harvest on Friday but she was sick, so Maria and Lukas spend time at the university and I emptied my bedroom L Because in the evening we picked up Henriette, the new au pair. So there was Maria, the previous au pair, me, the current au pair and Henriette, the new one 😀 Henriette was tired so only Lukas, Maria and I went to the country line dance and tried to learn those dances. Way harder and faster than you would think it is. But we love the music and it´s fun to watch 😀 Later that night we were hanging out in our garden at home, trying to learn “footloose” which we did then 😀 Maria and I will practice that 😉 I moved that night to Heather´s and Aaron´s J where I stayed the upcoming days.
On Saturday we went shopping in the Arden Fair mall and ate appetizer and cheesecake at the Cheesecake Factory 😛 Each one of us ordered a different one and we all shared J In the evening we watched a baseball game of the Sacramento river cats J FINALLY! I always wanted to see one and now I can say it is actually pretty boring 😀 but still cool! And we saw the nice fireworks at the end J although our team lost 😀
We used the Sunday to drive to Lake Tahoe and I was kinda proud to find the way without a navigation system 😀 We took a lot of pictures, swam in the cold water and then we rented 2 kayaks at the emerald bay to paddle around the island and hike up the island J The water is so nice and clear. We drove along the west coast from the south up to Tahoe city and I showed them where the Liese´s cabin is in which we always stay J After hanging around at the water for a while, we started our way back home J Dropped off Henriette at Tom´s and ate BBQ with Eric, Lesley, Samantha and Jeff and jumped in the pool again. We made a Spongebob-Pool-Party 😀 It was so much fun to spent time with the trolls because we watched the same series and still love Spongebob and we are people that become excited about stuff really easily J We would always laugh and Henriette, the trolls and I played the yellow car-, Dog sit- and Prius-Challenge at once 😀 It was awesome to hang out with these guys 😀
On Monday was Henriette´s first day and Maria and Lukas rented a car to go to SF J Henriette did a good job and although half of the garage was under water because of the washing machine we had a great day J We went to CREAM around 10 to eat icecream sandwich 😛 such a mess to eat that 😀
On Tuesday I dropped them off at the airport. Nate was at Liese´s so we only had to take care of TJ more or less. Henriette showed him a few songs on the piano, really cool!
Brelle took a day off on Wednesday, so we drove to the aqua park with the parkour where I have been before with Lina and the boys. It´s the same material as bouncy houses but it is floating on water and super slippery 😀 It happened quite often that we fall in but sometimes we wanted to 😀 After that session from which I still have a sore, we picked up a car at Brelle´s parent´s house in Roseville and I finally said good-bye to them L We needed the car for Brelle´s brother, Brian, who was visiting with his girlfriend Senguida and their daughter Zarah (sorry, if I wrote your names in the wrong way). I picked them up at the train station in Davis J They are really nice! Henriette made really good chicken steak for dinner and a little bit later, she, TJ and I took off. Henriette and I ended up in the pool although it was actually to cold 😀 Oh and we went to target at night and she was so surprised that it was still open 😀 I think she was a good choice for my hostfamily J
On Thursday morning she drove me to the airport and I flew to Flagstaff to meet my family.
Since my family came over and I was talking German all the time, I stopped thinking in English and I got a German accent again -.-

Weiter geht die Geschichte. Sie handelt von Trollen in einem weit entfernten Land namens USA. Es war einmal vor einer Woche, dass TJ und ich zwei Österreicher mitten in der Nacht in Sacramento am Flughafen abholten. Sie waren seit einem Tag auf der Reise in das weite Land gewesen und so sichtlich enttäuscht. Doch trotzdem schaffte Maria es, um 2 Uhr morgens einen riesigen Kerzenständer umzuwerfen

Ihr Gepäck hatte es leider nicht in den richtigen Flieger geschafft und so haben wir es am Mittwoch abgeholt, nachdem TJ und ich Maria und Lukas richtig gutes mexikanisches Essen gezeigt haben J Später haben wir noch ein paar geile Mandeln mit Kokosnuss-Geschmack oder BBQ-Sriracha-Sauce gekauft 😀 Den Rest des Tages hingen wir nur rum und spielten mit den Jungs im Pool. Am Abend wollten wir eigentlich auf den Farmer´s Market doch die Jungs hatten Kopfscherzen und so sind nur Lukas, Maria und ich nach downtown gefahren und haben Potstickers auf dem Picknick gegessen, darum gechillt und der Musik gelauscht 😀 Es war so witzig, Maria dabei zuzuschauen, wie sie sich mit den Stäbchen gequält hat 😀 Wir haben ja versucht es ihr zu zeigen, doch da war nix zu machen 😀 Abgerundet wurde der Abend mit Icecream-Sandwich von Cream J
Donnerstag fuhren wir nach Sacramento, schauten in Jeffs Büro vorbei, sahen die Stadt also von oben, gingen über den Farmer´s Market und dann ins Kapitol. Außerdem sahen sie natürlich noch Old Sac J Abends gab´s dann Jeffs Steak 😛 und wir sprangen ganz spontan nochmal alle in den Pool. Jeff hat abgeräumt und als wir wieder rein sind, meinte er nur: „Heute ward ihr aber keine vorbildlichen Deutschen“ und Maria und Lukas nur: „Wir sind ja auch keine Deutschen“ So dankt ihr mir das?! Da kämpft man in zwei Weltkriegen Hand in Hand und fällt einem dann so in den Rücken Fassungslos! 😀
Eigentlich wollten wir uns Samanthas Mandelfarm am Freitag ansehen, doch da sie so krank war, schauten sich die Trolle nur die Uni an und ich packte meine ganzen Sachen zusammen, denn Henriette würde an dem Abend noch ankommen und ihr Zimmer beziehen. Ich bin dann zu Heather und Aaron wieder gezogen (so wie am Anfang meines Jahres). Abends fuhren wir dann alle, die Jungs, Jeff, Brelle, die Österreicher und ich, zum Flughafen und begrüßten Henriette mit einem großen Poster. Danach gingen wir gemeinsam zum Chinesen. Später fuhren Maria, Lukas und ich zum Country-Linedance, was super viel Spaß war. Henriette war leider zu erschöpft. Maria und ich versuchten auch ab und zu mal das nachzutanzen, was die anderen auf der Tanzfläche von sich zeigten, doch leider waren wir nicht ganz so talentiert. Ab und zu hat´s trotzdem geklappt und Spaß hatten wir sowieso. Zuhause haben wir dann noch nachts mit nem Youtube-Tutorial geübt 😀 Und wir sahen die Spongebob-Lichter 😉
Am Samstag sind wir drei Au Pairs und Lukas shoppen gegangen in Sacramento, haben bei der Cheesecake-Factory gegessen (nur Appetizer und Kuchen, aber es war mehr als genug, denn jeder durfte von jedem probieren 😀 ) und sind zum Baseball-Spiel gefahren. Wir saßen ziemlich weit vorne in der 10. (?) Reihe. Es war sooooooooooo cool mit uns allen. Wir haben immer gehofft, dass die Kamera mal auf uns zeigen würde und wir dann den Dab machen könnten, doch leider kam es nicht dazu. Unser Team, die Sacramento Rivercats, hat auch verloren, aber dafür war das Feuerwerk ganz cool!
Den Sonntag nutzten wir um zum Lake Tahoe zu fahren und dann in die Emerald-Bay zu wandern (Smaragd-Bucht auf Deutsch). Dort waren wir im arschkalten Wasser schwimmen. Von alleine wäre ich wohl nie untergetaucht und so halfen mir Maria und Lukas gegen meinen Willen 😀 Dann fand ich´s auch nicht mehr so schlimm. Später waren wir dann noch mit zwei Kajaks auf der Insel und sind noch etwas darum gepaddelt 😀 Ich habe ihnen dann noch die Hütte gezeigt, in der wir immer übernachteten, wenn wir dort waren und den anderen Strand, an dem wir noch etwas chillten, bevor wir auf einer anderen Strecke wieder heim fuhren und mit Eric, Lesley, Jeff und Samantha BBQ aßen. Dann sind wir nochmal in den Pool gesprungen und schon war der Tag wieder rum. Henriette war zum Abendessen bei Tom eingeladen (Maria, Lukas und ich eigentlich auch, aber Jeff hatte schon für uns gekocht und wir wollten in den Pool).
Am Montag leihten sich die Trolle ein Auto aus und Henriette hatte ihren ersten Arbeitstag, den sie auch ziemlich gut überstanden hat 😀 Am Abend mussten die Lukas, Maria und ich Henriette noch CREAM zeigen, um 10 Uhr abends 😀 aber s war ein warmer Tag und so liefen wir noch etwas umher.
Am Dienstagmorgen fuhr ich die Österreicher dann auch schon zum Flughafen und sie verließen Kalifornien. Nate war bei seiner Tante Liese und Henriette und ich mussten uns nur um TJ kümmern. Sie zeigte ihm, wie man Klavier spielt und ich muss sagen, er hat echt ein Talent dafür.
Den Mittwoch nahm Brelle sich frei, damit wir alle zum Wasserpark fahren konnten. Es war der Wasserpark, in dem Lina, die Jungs und ich schon mal zusammen waren, in dem man über Hindernisse klettern muss und wenn man abrutscht, fällt man ins Wasser. Es macht übelst viel Spaß, doch es ist auch sehr anstrengend. Ich bin am nächsten Tag mit einem Muskelkater aufgewacht. Wir verließen den Park, holten ein Auto bei Brelles Eltern ab, ich sagte noch ein letztes Mal „Good bye“ zu ihnen und nachdem ich die Jungs und Henriette zuhause ablieferte, holte ich Brelles Bruder und seine Familie ab. Wir hatten noch einen schönen Abend mit allen zusammen bevor Henriette und ich heimgefahren sind. So gegen 10 oder so sind sie und ich dann nochmal zu so einer Art REAL gefahren um eine SD-Karte zu kaufen und sie war total überrascht und verwundert, dass alles noch offen war 😀 So knuffig 😀 Wir waren dann auch nochmal im Pool, obwohl es arschkalt war.
Donnerstagmorgen fuhr Henriette mich zum Flughafen und ich flog über Phoenix nach Flagstaff, wo mich meine Familie abhole. Ich kam so knapp in Phoenix an, dass ich zum anderen Terminal rennen musste und mit dem Last Call noch mein Flugzeug erwischte. Puuh! Glück gehabt!
Bis meine Eltern gekommen sind und ich kaum Deutsch redete, dachte ich noch auf Englisch und ich hatte auch fast keinen Akzent mehr. Man hat zwar etwas raus gehört, doch ich hätte auch irgendeinen anderen Staat nehmen können und man hätte mir geglaubt, dass ich da her käme. Da ich jetzt aber wieder so viel deutsch spreche und auch mit den Österreichern so viel deutsch sprach, habe ich wieder einen Akzent. Es war aber immer witzig mit den Trollen, weil wir deutsche und österreichische Musik gehört haben und die ganze Zeit lachen mussten. Auch weil ich ein paar Worte aus ihrem Dialekt nicht kannte oder sie welche aus meinem nordhessischen 😀
