this week I finally did my driver´s license. Yippee!!! 🎉 On Tuesday the battery worked and so I could do the test 🙂 In the test you have to do everything. So turn right, turn left, stop at a stop sign, stop at a traffic light, change the line… One time I had to stop at the right side of the street and just drove backwards. But it is way easier than in Germany because they don´t trick you and you don´t have to park.

On friday I reached the 6 km for the first time and I have to say that I was really proud 😀

This week the boys stayed at their mom´s house. So I drove in the morning to her house and picked them up. On friday I just worked at the morning because Brelle picked them up earlier from school because they visited their uncle, Brelle´s brother who was here for vacation or something. At the evening was then the 103rd Pajamarino and there I met Lina and her hostfamily. Her hostdad explained us the tradition with the pyjamas. 103 years ago the students weren´t allowed to leave the campus because of the curfew. But they wanted to welcome their footballteam that arrived at the train station. So they left their houses quietly at night and went to the train station. Now it´s just a tradition but there is a big band and everyone is wearing Pyjamas. The students and also Davis´s habitants walk from the bus station through the streets to the train station and there we got pizza🍕, chips, lollipops for free and they played music and the cheerleader and dancers performed. All in all it was a great evening but it ended way too fast (at 7:30pm although it startet at 4:30pm). We got a tank top for free 🙂

On Saturday morning Lina and I met at my house. Actually we wanted to drive to the costume sell in downtown but they didn´t have many costumes, so we drove to a big costume and Halloween place in Vacaville where we spend a couple of hours. Lina and I found a costume 😁🎃 Then I called the boys with Facetime and I found two costumes for the boys and two weapons for their costumes. Later we drove back home and cooked some noodles with pesto 😛 We decided to drive to the footballgame earlier so that we have been there at 2:30pm. There were people making barbecue at the parking place and in front of the stadion was a brewfest with over 50 californian breweries but we couldn´t visited it because we weren´t old enough but there were no more cards to sell too. We bought our cards for the footballgame and explored the stadion. It is really impressing. For our suprise, the UC Davis team won (but Lina´s hostdad explained the day before that the disputants at the homecoming game are always very weak so that the team wins). However it was the first game in this season where die aggies won. Everytime there was a touchdown, there was a little firework 🎆 Actually the game has four quarters a 15 minutes but we were sitting there for more than 3,5 hours. The band was performing time by time and the cheerleaders and the dancing group. One time the band had a showdown between Darth Vader and his son and there was a wookie and R2D2 😀

On sunday Lina and I drove to Vacaville and went shopping a little bit. There are so many outletstores ❤ Actually I wanted to drive but the battery was dead. Again. -.-

 

Hey Leute,

letzte Woche Dienstag konnte ich endlich meine praktische Fahrprüfung antreten, denn die Batterie hat, Gott sei dank, funktioniert 🎊 Und jetzt habe ich einen amerikanischen Führerschein. Jippie!!! Naja noch nicht ganz. Ich habe einen Übergangsführerschein und der richtige wird mir in den kommenden Wochen zugeschickt 😀 Die Fahrprüfung ist viel, viel einfacher als in Deutschland. Zuallererst musste ich die Lampen bedienen und Handzeichen zeigen. Beim Fahren muss man dann einfach alles einfach machen, also rechts abbiegen, links abbiegen, Spur wechseln… und einmal sollte ich dann rechts anhalten und rückwärts fahren. Keine Ahnung was das gebracht hat. Parken muss man aber nicht und der Prüfer trickst nicht. 🙂

Am Freitag habe ich zum ersten Mal die 6km-Marke beim Joggen erreicht und ich muss zugeben, ich war ziemlich stolz auf mich. 😀 Die Jungs waren von Mittwoch bis Samstag bei Brelle, also bin ich morgens dort hin gefahren und habe sie immer zur Schule gebracht. Am Freitag war das dann auch schon meine ganze Arbeit. Brelle und die boys haben nachmittags Brelles Bruder besucht, der hier in Kalifornien glaube im Urlaub ist. Nachmittags/abends war ich auf dem Pajamarino. Das ist eine Tradition der Uni, denn vor 100 Jahren hatten die Studenten eine Ausgangssperre nachts und so haben sie sich jedes Jahr an Homecoming aus ihren Häusern geschlichen und haben ihr Footballteam am Bahnhof willkommen geheißen. Zumindest hat Lina und mir das so ihr Hostdad erklärt 😀 Heute macht man das nur noch traditionellerweise. Eine riesige Marschband, einige Studenten und natürlich Davis´ Einwohner laufen dann im Pyjama oder mit gemütlichen Klamotten durch Downtown zum Bahnhof. Da gabs gratis Pizza, Chips, Süßigkeiten, UC Davis stuff und Vorführungen der Cheerleader und anderen Gruppen der Uni. Leider war’s um halb 8 schon vorbei 😦

Samstag war dann das große Homecomingspiel, aber vorher haben Lina und ich noch Halloweenkostüme 🎃 gekauft. Eigentlich wollten wir zu dem secondhand-Verkauf in Downtown gehen, aber die hatten so wenige Kostüme, dass wir nach Vacaville gefahren sind und dort gab es einen riesigen Shop. Für die Jungs habe ich über Facetime auch noch was gefunden 🙂 Am Nachmittag war dann wie gesagt das Homecoming-Footballgame 🙂 Das war ziemlich cool. Vor dem Stadion war ein brewfest, das wir, da wir ja hier noch nicht volljährig sind, nicht besuchen durften 😦 Das Spiel fing um 4pm an, aber durch das Drumherum hat es erst um 7:30pm geendet. Ein footballgame dauert vier Quaters, also eine Stunde. Es gab aber noch Einlagen von den Cheerleadern, der Marschband, dem Orchester… Bei jedem Touchdown gab´s ein kleines Feuerwerk 🎆

Sonntag sind wir dann nach Vacaville ins Outletcenter gefahren und waren shoooopppeeeeennnn!!!
